BALTIMORE, Md. - The women's tennis team participated in the Goucher Invitational tournament on Sunday in Towson, Maryland and had a strong showing amongst a very competitive field. The tournament consisted of 6 separate brackets which included 4 singles flights and 2 doubles flights with a tournament-style shortened 4 game set format. Overall the Red Devil women finished with a 9-7 record in 16 total matches played on a very chilly and windy day at Goucher College. Dickinson was successful in making 2 main draw finals, and 3 back draw finals winning 2 of them.
In the flight A singles bracket freshman Jenna Crain fell to Andrea Brazyte of Gettysburg 4-3 (7-5), 4-0 in a tough fought match.
In the flight B singles sophomore Alisa Steele defeated Ashton Sirko of Rutgers-Camden 4-0, 4-0 before falling to Sweet Briar's Julianna Caracciolo in an epic 4-0, 1-4, 13-11 battle. Steele would then fall to Nicole Honrade of Lebanon Valley in the back draw final 4-2, 4-2.
Playing in the flight C draw junior Anabelle Armendarez fell to Lucy Ingraham of Goucher 4-2, 4-3 (7-4) before beating Bella Martinez of Rutgers-Camden 4-1, 4-0. Armendarez would then defeat Nathalia Mainart of Sweet Briar 0-4, 4-1, 10-5 in the back draw final.
Dana Kleinman had a very impressive showing in the flight D singles bracket winning her first two matches before falling in the main draw championship match. Kleinman took out Mackenzie Dicke of Stevenson 4-0, 4-1 and then scored a strong win against Catherine Haley of Gettysburg 4-3 (7-5), 4-3 (8-6). The final was a back and forth match with Sweet Briar's Maggie Minton narrowly pulling out a 4-1, 1-4, 11-9 win over Kleinman.
In the flight A doubles senior Molly Michel teamed up with freshman Bonnie Thomas; the duo fell in the opening match to Andrade / Patino of Sweet Briar 4-2, 4-0. They then went on a run beating the Stockton pair of Fennimore / Lucero 1-4, 4-0, 11-9 and then Michel and Thomas won the back draw final 4-3 (7-4), 4-1 against Shenk / DeLisio of Lebanon Valley.
In the flight B doubles sophomore Maddie Lindquist and freshman Sara Jaklitsch made a very impressive run to the main draw final before falling in a well fought match. The young pair first beat Zudov / Chwang of Stevenson 4-0, 4-1 and then defeated Theophall / Theophall of Stockton 4-1, 0-4, 11-9. In the championship match the duo ultimately fell to Sweet Briar's Eekkelen / Bestwick 4-1, 0-4, 10-5.

With this tournament the women's tennis team concludes a very strong fall season and they will next take the court in the spring of 2024.
