FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Dickinson women's tennis team took a group of individuals down to the University of Mary Washington this weekend to take part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional Championship. The Red and White battled hard for two days and showcased tremendous skill, grit and determination with a lot of positives to take into the rest of the season.
Singles
Championship Draw
Both
Chloe Heller and
Natasha Sharnoff were selected to participate in the main draw. Sharnoff opened up with an 8-5 win over Sahara Ahmad from conference rival Franklin and Marshall College. Unfortunately, she dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Ava Li of Johns Hopkins University in the Round of 32. Much like her teammate Heller started out against a player from Franklin and Marshall in Sophia Rhazali. The Diplomat would get the better of the match taking it 8-2 pushing Heller into the consolation draw. That was where Gibelle Beaujon of Salisbury University awaited her and knocked the Devil out of the competition thanks to an 8-2 win.
B2 Draw
Loretta Szych picked up an 8-2 victory in the Round of 16 against the University of Lynchburg's Isadora Lima. A conference foe stood on the opposite side of the net for the Quarterfinal as she faced off with Emma Ward from Gettysburg College. The two would battle into a deciding tiebreaker which was where the Devils collected a 7-3 win to take the set 8-7. Another Centennial opponent awaited her during the Semifinal as Riya Rao out of Swarthmore College posted an 8-2 triumph.
Merve Uyumazturk knocked off Abiela Wang from the host University of Mary Washington 8-3 in the Round of 16, but fell 8-3 a round later to Nathalie Lanne (Christopher Newport University).
Doubles
Championship Draw
The duo of Sharnoff and Uyumazturk edged out Natalia Navarro Ramirez-Meline Siggen from Goucher College in the First Round by a margin of 6-1. However, they were bested by the home pair of Addison Felts and Natalie Kim (8-1) in the next round.

B1 Draw
Heller and Szych partnered up and showed out big time advancing all the way to the Semifinals. First, they took out Virginia Wesleyan University's unit of Meena Lennon and Mikisha Thomas 6-2, before solving the Lynchburg duo of Ashley Hair and Maggie Wonderling (6-2). However, the Red and White fell one match short of the title match as Madison McCarty and Wang from Mary Washington posted a 6-1 victory.
